Accenture
(NYSE: ACN) will work with prime contractor CGI
Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB; TSX: GIB.A) to provide the California
Franchise Tax Board (FTB) with technology architecture and an
Enterprise Data Warehouse to help the organization more effectively
deliver and manage its mandated services.
California’s FTB administers the California Revenue and Taxation Code,
with responsibilities including the processing of personal and business
tax returns, answering inquiries and collecting more than 65 percent of
the state’s general fund revenues ($60 billion in 2010).
The FTB, through an extensive analysis, identified business challenges
in areas including data availability, business processes, system
redundancy, self-services, data analysis and business entity tax system
flexibility. To address these business challenges, FTB initiated the
Enterprise Data to Revenue (EDR) project with prime contractor CGI. As a
primary subcontractor to CGI on this project, Accenture will implement service-oriented
architecture (SOA) and workflow architecture components to help
provide FTB greater system flexibility and improved operational
efficiencies, as well as implement an Enterprise Data Warehouse to
provide centralized data processing and integration of disparate data
currently stored in multiple systems.
“This project is key to the State of California’s efforts to identify
and collect billions of dollars in additional revenue over the next
several years,” said Dan
London, North American managing director for Accenture Health &
Public Service. “In the midst of California’s financial challenges, we
look forward to working with CGI and the State to leverage modern
approaches to enable the tax system to better serve the needs of
California state government, citizens and businesses.”
