Android: the quad-core Acer Iconia Tab A700 tablet to be unveiled at CES

Acer should be unveiling their Iconia Tab A700 tablet running a quad-core Tegra 3 processor at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. The first details about this device have come from Russia.

Taiwanese group Acer is now, despite rumours to the contrary, joining the tablets market after having announced the Iconia Tab A200, a 10" tablet with dual core processor and which will be compatible for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

Another tablet should also be announced at the CES 2012 show in Las Vegas in January: the Acer Iconia Tab A700, this time powered by a Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Still with a 10.1" display but with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, it also comes with a SIM card slot providing 3G connectivity and a mini-HDMI port.

The tablet will be Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 compatible and will come with a 5 mega pixel digital camera lens on the back, as well as a second lens on the front. The device will weigh only 650 grams and should provide up to 10 hours of battery life.

The site NoMobile.ru, which has also provided pictures, suggests that the Acer Iconia Tab A700 could be launched in March or April 2012.
