Right click on the right hand side and select “New” and select “Chain Value”.

Rename this entry (by default it will have the name: New Value 1), as follows:
“DefaultPassword” and press the enter key.

Double click on the “DefaultPassword” key and enter your accounts password into the field.

You should be aware that the password will be saved in clear text. This means that anyone who gets access to the computer will be able to see the password in the “DefaultPassword” field of the registry!!!!

You should then see this:

Close the windows registry and log off your windows session (the button can be accessed by pressing the [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL] buttons) or reboot your PC so that the changes will take effect. The next time you reboot you should be automatically logged on.

  • How can you prevent the AutoLogon?
    Go to the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT
    \Current Version\Winlogon

Change the “AutoAdminLogon” value to 0 and delete the “DefaultPassword” key.

You will then find your system has reverted to the classic logon screen where you need to input the [CTRL] + [ALT] + [DEL] command.
