Adobe has demonstrated a tool which converts Flash to HTML5.

Logo Adobe ProDuring the MAX 2010 event in Los Angeles, Adobe was looking to reassure users that the hot debate surrounding the Flash technology compared to HTML5 was unwarrented. The editor wasnt looking to pick a fight, instead preferrring to play the complementary angle to try and keep their Web developers on side.

Manager of Adobe Photoshop, John Nack posted a video from the MAX 2010 conference on his Adobe blog. This demonstrated a tool which allowed you to easily convert a Flash animation to HTML5, or more precisely, a cobination of HTML5, CSS, SVG... We only find out more once you start talking about transition rather than complimentary.

For John Nack, "Adobe will live or die on their capacity to help their clients resolve real problems. This means being pragmatic before ideologic". The Flash technology is still highly present in interactive Web content, but Adobe has to take into consideration the increasing role HTML5 will play in the future.

At the same time, we can consider that the Adobe conversion tool will help provide Flash with a longer life, in the sense that developers wont have to change their habits.

This was only a technology demonstration though, with it not being sure that a firm product will be released in the near future. Wired also points out that the use of the word HTML5 is a little vague, with the page generated by the conversion tool uses the XHTML 1.0 doc type.
