Alpha II, a leader in healthcare coding, compliance and reimbursement,
announced today a contract with Data Media Associates of Alpharetta, Ga.
The print and mail outsourcing company for medical billing offices will
offer Alpha II’s ClaimStaker product as a fully supported
claim-scrubbing product component for its customers. The partnership
will allow Data Media Associates’ users to verify both professional and
institutional claims from the payer’s perspective using the industry’s
most comprehensive medical necessity and coding edits database.
The first Data Media Associates customer went live with the
claim-scrubbing technology in November 2011, while others will begin
implementation soon now that the HIPAA 5010 standards are in place
throughout their respective practices.
“Claims are the lifeblood of medical groups, and at a time when revenue
is increasingly at stake, using technology to ensure our customers are
submitting clean claims the first time is extremely beneficial in saving
important resources such as time and money,” said Bob Murphy, founder
and president of Data Media Associates. “Alpha II’s expertise and the
significant database of edits it offers far exceed any edits we’ve seen
done in most billing systems. We only wish we would’ve partnered with
Alpha II sooner.”
Using essentially the same technology payers use, Alpha II’s ClaimStaker
is designed to improve claim validity and increase cash flow for
providers by editing claim files prior to submission. It can be
integrated by Alpha II’s developer partners as embedded software or
implemented as a stand-alone solution.
“ClaimStaker has helped many practices increase revenue, reduce denials,
meet compliance regulations, and monitor and improve coding practices,”
said Marla Harmon, vice president of operations for MEGAS, LLC, one of
the software developers behind the Alpha II cobranded solution. “We look
forward to providing automated claims evaluation and decision support to
the customers of one of the largest statement processing businesses in
healthcare to help them meet their reimbursement initiatives.”
