Always getting codec message

ive got windows media version 11. i have taken a video off a camera and it is
in .asf i tried to play it on windows media and i got this message 'An audio
codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to
download from the Web, click Web Help.' i then click on web help and follow
all the links, download the codec that is needed and restart my computer and
tried it again but i keep getting the same message ive now downloaded the
codec 3 times i cant think of anything else to do!!!

What *specific* codec does it say you need?
