American Business Association of Russian-Speaking Professionals (AmBAR) continues working on the organization of its 7th Silicon Valley Open Doors (SVOD) conference, which will take place on November 29-30, 2011 in the Computer History Museum, Mountain View, California. As SVOD-2011 is approaching its opening date, AmBAR is building up the work to make this year's conference a strong and vibrant event.

We are encouraged by a strong response to SVOD Startup Competition from companies that come from both sides of the ocean. The competition selects about 20 innovative startups to grant the use of the SVOD platform to pitch to venture capital funds of Silicon Valley and Russia. Details on the Startup Competition are available at http://www.ambargroup.org/svod/startups.

AmBAR continues to accept applications for the Startup Competition and reminds that the deadline for submission is October 31. If you work in a startup that could benefit from the opportunities open at SVOD, don't hesitate to send your executive summary to businessplan@ambargroup.org.

To keep the momentum of SVOD registration, we are extending the Early Bird period up to October 31. Online registration is open at http://svod2011.eventbrite.com. The SVOD registration page now offers the option to pay the annual individual AmBAR membership dues ($50). The membership benefits include a 50% discount off SVOD registration as well as discounted admission to other AmBAR events.

With regard to the recently surfaced claim about the registration of the SVOD trademark, AmBAR has filed the Petition for Cancellation of this groundless registration attempt with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Тhe names "Silicon Valley Open Doors" and '"SVOD" belong to AmBAR as a common law right because all past SVOD conferences were always organized under AmBAR's name, by AmBAR's collective membership, and with AmBAR's corporate funds. The full text of the Petition for Cancellation is available here.
