It has been known since September that LG have been developing Smartphone’s powered by Tegra 2 processors. Engadget has now released images of the future LG Optimus Smartphone running Android powered by this processor.

LG Android Tegra 2LG Electronics announced in September that they would use Nvidia’s Tegra 2 dual core processors (operating under ARM Cortex-A9) in some of their future Android Smartphone’s.

The South Korean group didn’t provide any indications as to the nature of these future handsets but Engadget has now published photos of a model code named Star which is apparently powered by the processor in question.

Its characteristics
The LG Star will come with a 4" display and an 8 mega pixel camera lens capable of recording 1080p Full HD video. A large Google logo is present on the back of the device, although the version of Android installed on the device is unknown.

The presence of the Tegra 2 dual core processor should provide improved sensitivity and performance (3D games should be able to run 5 times faster) without penalising the device’s battery life.

Engadget points out that the LG Star has a digital camera on the front for videoconferencing and integrates a microSD memory card. We also find a micro USB port for recharging the 1500 mAh battery. More to come.
