Oh, really. Maybe someone should tell my wife, who is so protective of her
Epic 4G that she looks askance at me every time I try to pick it up. She
loves the thing and hates her sister's iPhone. And she could care less
that it's Linux, she just likes the features. But we've got another self-
proclaimed "expert" (the kind that Snit dredges up) telling us that women
don't like Android phones.
His own words.
“Android manufacturers are all just focused utterly on the tech, because
they’re all hardware guys,” he says. “They don’t get software. They’ve
tried to outdo Apple with hardware, but the problem is the customer
doesn’t care. The Samsung Galaxy has done pretty well, but it’s just price-
driven. It’s not desire-driven. There are no lines out the door to get a
Galaxy. They’ve done all this work on branding, but the name doesn’t mean
anything to consumers. It’s like calling a phone ‘Alpha Centauri’ or
It just happens that my wife specifically wanted the Epic 4G (Galaxy S) --
she didn't want an iPhone, she didn't want the Evo -- she specifically
wanted the Epic. So how stupid does this pompous ass think women are?
BTW, the Samsung Galaxy has propelled Samsung into the number one spot for
Android sales -- now over HTC and Motorola, and Android had 53% of the
market last quarter -- so I'm not sure "pretty well" quite sums it up.
And, BTW, "moron expert," the marketing name for the Galaxy S is "Epic" at
Sprint, "Captivate" at AT&T, "Nexus S" at Google -- and various other
names at other carriers. So he can't even get the gist of that. As for
price, the Galaxy S phones are premium Androids (not the cheap ones, as he
insinuates). At Verizon, the Apple iPhone is $200 with a 2 year plan, the
same price as the Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S) with 2 year plan. So more
bullshit from the "expert."
