Bug#612113: bluez: Bluez wont run!

February 05th, 2011 - 07:10 pm ET by Raza Abbas | Report spam
Package: bluez
Version: 4.87-1
Severity: important

Blueman-Manager/bluetooth-applet wont run.

Things I've tried to fix the error.
-Restart Bluez (/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart)
-Enable my bluetooth dongle manually (sudo hciconfig hci0 reset)
-Reinstall Bluez (apt-get reinstall bluez)
-Upgrade bluez to experimental

Blueman-manage wont start and give this error. "Bluez daemon is not running,
blueman-manager cannot continue."

Bluetooth-applet wont even run unless I manually start it. When I do it has a
turn bluetooth on button but if you click it, it does nothing. It just turns
gray.

I know my dongle isn't the prob because it's working with hcitool scan.

"bash@debian:~$ hcitool scan
Scanning ...

Hi,

Thanks for your bug report!

2011/2/6 Raza Abbas :
Package: bluez
Version: 4.87-1
Severity: important

Blueman-Manager/bluetooth-applet wont run.

<snip>

/etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'/etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf'
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'/etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf'
/etc/default/bluetooth changed:
BLUETOOTH_ENABLED=1
HID2HCI_ENABLED=0
HID2HCI_UNDO=0

You seem to fail in the update of bluez package.
# I confirm that 7.87 can update it from 4.70.
Please update a package again and would confirm whether there is
upper files (/etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf and
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/bluetooth.conf ?

Best regards,
Nobuhiro
