Bug#653467: gtkpod: cannot mount ipod(Critical error)

December 28th, 2011 - 11:50 am ET by Brent | Report spam
Package: gtkpod
Version: 2.1.0-1
Severity: important

Previous versions of gtkpod mounted my 1st generation ipod shuffle fine. Now,
when I start gtkpod, it asks for my model number to mount and shows x9725 which
is correct. I click on ok and then I get a popup window which says:

Newly mounted iPod at '/media/BRENTE'S IP' could not be loaded into gtkpod.

I see the following when I start gtkpod from the command line:

$ gtkpod

** (gtkpod:22143): CRITICAL **: repository_ipod_init_set_model: assertion
`gtk_combo_box_get_active_iter(cb, &iter)' failed

** (gtkpod:22143): WARNING **: Error parsing recent playcounts

I can mount the ipod fine in Nautilus and traverse through the filesystem and
click on songs and play them.

gtkpod used to work fine on this ipod.

gtkpod 2.1.0 migrated to testing (your distribution of choice) on
August. Probably you upgraded immediately, am I right?

So I was wondering what changed in the last days... or you didn't used
it before, since August? I need more information to define the
circumstances of the failure.
My fault is in not having a first generation iPod Shuffle, to try
reproducing this behaviour. Gonna ask the gtkpod guys to test it.

Anyway, thanks for the report.
I'll try to investigate on it as soon as possible.

Hi!

Any news?

I've asked a friend of mine to test the same situation with an iPod
Shuffle like yours and he didn't get that weird message.

Let me know something, or I'll consider this as a casual bug and close
it in few days, if you can't provide any useful information.

Thanks for your time.

For some reason I didn't get your previous response or it got deleted.

I haven't plugged in my ipod for quite a while so I can't tell you for
sure when it worked the last time. It may have been a year or so, maybe
longer.

Brent
