Bug#664885: [ikiwiki] broken link in 'teximg' directive description

March 21st, 2012 - 11:50 am ET by Dmitry Smirnov | Report spam
Package: ikiwiki
Version: 3.20120202
Severity: minor

in file /usr/share/doc/ikiwiki/html/plugins/teximg.html

'teximg' directive description refer to
[this site](http://www.der-winnie.de/opensource/gsoc2007)
for examples how to use rendered images.

However this link is broken and information is no longer available
from author's site.

Below you may find the missing information (slightly reformatted)
which I recovered from [1] - it would be nice to incorporate it
to documentation.

Regards,
Dmitry.

## Testcases for Latex Plugin for ikiwiki

* Does it parse [ and ] correctly?

\ce{[Cu(NH3)3]^{2+}}

* Does it parse < and > correctly?

\frac{1}{2} > \frac{1}{4} < \frac{1}{3}

* Does it parse $ correctly (the € symbol is sadly not know to latex)?

50\$ = \frac{50}{1.38} = 36.23 Eur

* Now here some more formulas (for people who are interested in the meaning of them... this are all formulas used in physical chemistry.

E_n = \left( v + \frac{1}{2} ight) \cdot \hbar \omega
\omega=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}}
E = - \frac{Z^2 \cdot \mu \cdot e^4}{32\pi^2 \epsilon_0^2 \hbar^2 n^2}

* Image resizing does work now (possible are: 8pt; 9pt; 10pt; 11pt; 12pt; 14pt; 17pt; 20pt):

Without height (default height (12pt):

\frac{1}{3}

With height=9 (9pt):

\frac{1}{3}

With height (20pt):

\frac{1}{3}

With height=6 (6pt):

\frac{1}{3}

* Have a look if the error I found in the last version is fixed now

\ce{Mn^{2+} + 2O2- -> MnO_4^- + 5e-}

* Just an example formula with forbidden stuff:

[[!teximg Fehler: ]]

Thanks for doing that work.. However,
http://ikiwiki.info/ikiwiki/directive/teximg/ already has some of that
on it, and I don't see much benefit in adding a lot more examples, so I
will only remove the dead link from the other page.

That's fine but perhaps the best would be to replace the broken link with link
to relevant ikiwiki page.

At the moment offline documentation is not clear where to get more
information.

Thank you.

Regards,
Dmitry.
