Package: gnome-shell
Followup-For: Bug #679305

Dear Maintainer,
I found wicd was the problem, it conflict in some ways, so I removed it
and installed NetworkManager and now I can still login to Gnome 3.on
the other side I can't connect with a static ip directly from
network-manager maybe because we lack nm-connection-editor on Debian but
this is another story...

It's not missing. You probably just don't have network-manager-gnome
installed.
You should probably at least install gnome-core, so you have all the
necessary dependencies installed.

Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the
universe are pointed away from Earth?

You are right! I had only network-manager installed and not
network-manager-gnome which bring me nm-connection-editor so now I can use
static ip address without any problems.
Even if I can't actually use Wicd+Gnome3 i can say problems are double
solved. Thank you.
