the default?

Is the C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\ folder missing? To
recreate the folder, exit ALL instances of IE. Exit from IE and use
Task Manager's Processes tab to ensure there are no remaining
iexplore.exe process listed. Then restart IE which should recreate that
folder. If the Low folder exists, you may have to reset its privileges;

Thanks for taking the time to help and sorry it's taken me so long to answer
your questions.

First off, I lied :o I DO get an error message. I just didn't see it
because it's always in the very back of several open windows. It doesn't
pop up on top like other error messages do.

It's a script error: There is no connection for this connection ID. Code:
0 URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.js
Remember, I can print from any other program except for IE (which I don't
use) I use FF and I CAN print from it.

No Sandboxing that I know of. I've never heard of it, much less downloaded
anything like that.

I have Malwarebytes and Spyware Blaster

My printer is the default printer and is the one highlighted when I choose
print in IE.

Apparently.
No IE windows were open (donÿt use it), started it and there is still
nothing under C:\Users\{username}\ except a Desktop folder.
Under C:\Users\DELL\ I have the all that...

I don't use IE.

But WLM does!!!

Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, and Outlook Express use the page and
print settings in Internet Explorer under its File menu. Also, if you
want to include background images in a print of an e-mail message, you
have to enable it in IE (Internet Options -> Advanced -> Printing,
enable the "Print background images and colors" option). Microsoft's
free e-mail clients are tied to IE to do the printing. If you can't
print in IE then start there to resolve the problem.

You could see if resetting IE fixes the printing problem (Internet
Options -> Advanced -> Reset).

What add-ons have you installed to Internet Explorer?

I do have the free version of Avast.

Did you temporarily disable all Avast shields to retest printing in WLM?
Did you check the auto-sandbox for free Avast to make sure IE (or other
apps) aren't listed to get sandboxed?

Presumably you have the free version of MalwareBytes (with no real-time
protection). If you have the payware version which includes its
on-access (real-time) monitor then temporarily disable it, too, and
retest printing.

If Desktop is the only folder under C:\Users\<youraccount> then just
where is IE's TIF (Temporary Internet Files) folder? I don't have IE9
but for IE8 you go to Internet Options -> General tab -> Browsing
history -> Settings and look at the value for "Current location". What
is the FULL path to where IE9 saves its temp files?

Where is your account's temp folder? When you enter %temp% in the
address bar in Windows Explorer, where are you taken. What's the folder
name with its full path?

Did you configure Windows Explorer to show ALL folders or files or are
some still hidden from view?

The temp\Low folder MUST exist according to the KB article; else, you
must disable UAC protection. Unless YOU are logging under the "Dell"
Windows account, it doesn't matter if there is or is not a temp\Low
folder under that account's profile. The temp\Low folder has to be
under YOUR user profile (i.e., it must exist under YOUR account).

Looking at a preview is NOT using the printer or its driver. You
haven't yet used the app's print engine and gotten out of the app (IE9)
to use the device.

Printer driver is up to date

Method #1 in the Microsoft KB article addresses printer driver issues
but that's not the only cause that the article addresses.

Did you try Method #2 where you logon under an admin-level account to
test if printing then worked from IE9? Did you try Method #3 to disable
Protected Mode in IE9 and retest printing from IE9? Did you try Method
#4 where you recreate the temp\Low folder yourself and also set the
proper privileges on it (or use the FixIt button to do that)? Did you
then try Method #5 where you reset to low integrity on the Low folder?

Have you tried switching back to IE9 as the default web browser and
retest printing from IE9 to see if it then works? If that works, retest
printing in WLM. Then switch to a different web browser as the default
and again retest printing in IE9 and WLM. I don't know that WLM demands
IE be the default web browser for printing to work but it's a
possibility.

Try running in a command shell:

cd /d %windir%\system32
regsvr32.exe ole32.dll

If that doesn't work by itself, you can try using the scripts (or do the
regsvr32 commands yourself within them) listed at:

They address a slew of problems with IE. Since you have a 64-bit
version of Windows, you'll probably have to run both the 32- and 64-bit
versions of the scripts (unless the 64-bit include the 32-bit
registrations).

One of the problems it mentions as to why these registrations get
corrupted or disappear is from lazy use of registry cleaners. The user
is the ultimate authority to know if the changes proposed by a registry
cleaner are valid or wanted. Have you been using any registry cleaners?
Many of them don't support 64-bit Windows.
