issue with SBS2000 server with IE Lan Proxy Server settings

March 31st, 2004 - 10:22 pm ET by Charlene | Report spam
We just installed a new SBS2000 server with the ISA
application. We are using a desktop application that does
a get command to obtain a file via a URL the application
specificies. The app hangs at the splash screen for 5
minutes before it opens and the request does not process.
If you manually take that URL and put it directly in IE
you can get to that location without a problem. Our IE
LAN settings are defined with our proxy server at port
8080. If I deselect the proxy server settings in IE and
launch the app it opens right away; no waiting for 5
minutes. I reselect the proxy server settings and reopen
the app at it opens right away, even with the settings
reselected. I cannot figure out why the application is
prohibited from getting the updated file via its URL but
not when you take the same URL and do it manually within
IE. Desktops are XP.
Any ideas?

Hi,
It might related to the application failing to authenticate through the web
proxy.

Check the following article:

This looks like it might take care of the problem. I
will post back to let you know.

Thank you!

Hello

The network person I am working with stated that in the
case of this app and other apps having the same outbound
problem, he went to the ISA server properties and then
went to the [Outgoing Web Requests] tab and then double-
clicked the server object there and at the Add/Edit
Listener dialog box the de-selected the checkbox
for "Integrated". What makes this option different
from the ones in the 295667 article?

Only guess is that the software may be failing to do NTLM but may work fine
with Basic auth.
