mic no longer working

I have a Logitech mic that worked on my computer. I have a new motherboard
in the computer now and the mic doesn't register a voice, you have to tap on
the mic to record anything. I have adjusted the volumes, used the test sound
hardware and today download and installed the latest drivers. Still no luck.
My sound card was with the motherboard and is a C-Media CMI9761A. Any help
would be appreciated - we've been working on this quite a while already.

mics are relatively cheap to buy.

when compared to the hours you may have spent on the prblem, it may have
been cost effective to spend 5 bucks on a new mic.

a number of things could have happened, the internal wires may have crimped
and broken, the connector may be pushed into the speaker jack or the
motherboard has a bad jack or something... Maybe your cmos on you new
mobo has an enable option or your mobo has special software on its driver
disk or maybe you can install your old sound card onto the new mobo..
