O.T. Recommendation for Web development

November 08th, 2011 - 07:52 am ET by herman.viaene | Report spam
I have made a simple website foe our cycling activities, using no more than
separate html documents made in LibreOffice. The files are linked together
by hyperlinks starting at an "index.html" file.

Now I would like to switch to a program which can handle projects, and can
import my existing files. And if possible easy to get a grip on.

I know there are loads of progs for web development, but maybe someones
experience can save me the trouble of checking this and that and some
more

TIA

URL? I used to be a cyclist too; I'd like to see what you are up to.

Since Quanta+ is gone (maybe for good), I've tried several, and settled
on Komodo Edit. I hand-code all my sites, so I've no need for WYSIWYG
editors. Komodo will also preview php files if you have apache and php
installed, and has ftp support.

I rarely handle website development but I do have to maintain one (my own).
It is helpful to have WYSIWIG. I started off years ago with a Windows
program called Hotemetal Pro 5.0 but when I be came transfixed by Linux I
discovered an almost identical Linux program now called Kompozer. With
either, at a touch of one of three buttons at bottom left, you can switch
beteen source (HTML in my case), tag mode or WYSIWIG.

I hope that's useful.

I'm almost old enough to qualify then ;-) If I ever get a job on your side
of the pond I'll have to look you up one Thursday.
