OT: So what does Win8 have going for it again?

I've played with it some... other than the live tile doohickeys, and the
claim that it's supposedly less memory hungry, what makes this really
different from Windows 7?

Sure, I could Google around and see what the pundits say, but I'd rather
hear from the Windows people here as to why they will or won't upgrade.
Perhaps this situation requires a more Klingon response.

Well, the people to ask are the obvious candidates who make their money
from Windows SW and who actively enrich their CVs with Windows skillZ
and will probably be on the BETA anyway. In case you dont know these
are:

Gortard
Chris Ahlstrom
Peter Koehlmann
Rexx Ballard
turd
That kid who keeps boasting about his degree
Nobody
Kelsey
DFS
7

There's obviously a few more but there's enough to be going on with!

Glad to be of service ;)

As an instructor I will get it and run it in a VM to learn it. Important
for me to keep up my job skills as well. Also I believe it is best to know
multiple options... only way to engage in "informed computing" - which is
better than focusing on just one tool.

Makes your monitor look like a giant cell phone, with a large Internet

I won't upgrade until forced to by buying a new laptop (at discounted
price, of course.)

Just bought a laptop this weekend. I saw some discounted HP laptops,
but they're now infected with UEFI, and I did not want to deal with that
bullshit at this time.

So I picked a Toshiba model. However, I did not find out until I
actually powered the fscker on that there is no way (as far as I can
tell) to access the BIOS before booting to Windows 7. I had to let that
crapware "prepare for first use", then google to find that there is a
*Windows* *app* that Toshiba provides to modify the BIOS.

Wonder who thought up that brainstorm? Feck!

Whats sad is Telnet Porter feeling he must tell a story about a woman in
his spare room using Firefox. Stop the press. Whats also funny is him
sending her home with a Linux install CD without warning her about the
programs that wont work anymore or all her email etc going up in smoke
when she installs it over Windows.
Still, another few hundred dollars in support income a few weeks down the
road eh Telnet? :-; You little devil you.
And then of course, on the other side his mealy mouth Porter tells us it
takes a minimum of ten years to use a Linux system properly. LOL. He was
doing a bit of an Ahlstrom then and showing off I agree.
