I don't agree with the idea that, in order to be good, everything else
has to be considered bad. OS X is a darn good OS. I used Mac OS for over
a decade before switching to Ubuntu.

I'm enjoying my 'buntu experience. I take some small degree of pride in
being a real world example of the capabilities of open source operating
systems and applications.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't go back if I needed to. The fact that I
haven't needed to go back in 2 years speaks to the quality and
usefulness of open source software.
