Ubuntu 11.10 nautilus file manager will not open

October 14th, 2011 - 08:08 am ET by Mr.E | Report spam
Not able to get the file manager (Nautilus) to open. Comes up but
quickly goes away. Tried a reinstall - no help. I was able to finally
get it to stay open last night but after turn on today it will not
open again. No idea what I did last night to open it.

It's a bug in the nautilus terminal function. A workaround is to remove
the package

sudo apt-get remove nautilus-open-terminal

Other extensions of the nautilus, like nautilus-image-manipulator are
also so buggy, because of the nautilus-python base.

Thank you very much Volker- this seems to have corrected the problem!

Is it any wonder that I stay with 10.04 for now. Works so well.
