Ubuntu 12_04 on Asus Eee PC 1225B: graphical problems

June 10th, 2012 - 12:24 pm ET by Olve | Report spam
Dear all,

I've just installed the said version of Ubuntu on an
Asus Eee PC 1225B. It works more or less: it works but sometimes, some
lines are blurred, or some icons are blurred.
Looking towards what nvidia has to say but I can't install the
nvidia-settings because lib11 seems to be in conflict with the version
of ubuntu I have -- I'm usually running Debian, but many posts seemd to
say that ubuntu was very good on this netbook -- So I'm far from having
all my usual landmarks :(

Many thanks in advance!
(already many posts have helped me reach this far !)
Best,
Amities,
Olivier

Yes, it is.

One would think that a regular Debianista would know the difference, no
matter the OS (especially since Ubuntu is almost identical to Debian in
most ways).

I'm fully ignorant of graphical issues and of most hardware issues as
well. I'm lacking my usual synpatic or aptitude and the package
manager I'm able to run (Dash I think) is inefficient. I hoped the
installer would choose what to install properly, I thought there may
be problem with "acceleration" whatever this word covers.

Anyway, conclusion: what else then?

Dear all,

Many thanks for all the pointers you gave me.
My mistake: having gone to Ubuntu/quantal and not ./precise

Precise works well, no graphical problems
and offers Synaptic as well!

(UNetbootin proposes 10_4 or Daily. I chose Daily since I wanted
12_something, but that was 12_10 ... I simply downloaded and image and
put it on my usb key (more than 1 hour) and that was it)

Ouf, getting off the shore at last!
Cheers, O.
