(This is Mandriva 2010.2, with KDE 4.5.2)
Something odd has started happening when I click on a URL in an email.
Normally, clicking on a URL in an email just passes it to Firefox
(default Web Browser).
That was on Friday, but today - first day back after weekend away -
it has gone haywire.
(I have not knowingly changed anything; no s/w update, no adjustments.
No one else can have used the PC.)
What happens now is that something copies data to a temp file and
passes the path to that to Firefox, resulting in a screen less 'graphic'
than the usual.
(The file passed to Firefox as target is e.g.:
file:///var/tmp/kdecache-mab/krun/12671.0.show_bug.cgi
instead of the URL as in email:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?idV92 )
(If I copy/paste the URL directly from email to Forefox, it opens
normally.)
And if the URL has a 'php' component, e.g.:
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewforum.php?f=7
Firefox opens, and then I see:
"You have chosen to open 17269.0.viewforum.php from
/var/tmp/kdecache-mab/krun. What should Firefox do with this file?"
If I agree to open it with Firefox, I get:
"Firefox can't find the file at
/var/tmp/kdecache-mab/krun/17269.0.viewforum.php."
N.B. On my laptop - also running Mandriva 2010.2, but with KDE 4.4.5 -
it all works normally, wth the same URL's i the same emails...
I've tried logout/Åogin and even reboot - no difference.
Can anyone see what needs to be done to return it (and my sanity) back
to normal, please?!
