Subject: Windows Live Mail Intermittant Failure to Launch

1. Read the previous threads up to the point they get tangetial or lose
relevance and/or bitch-slappy... <erggghhh>...

2. Replaced OE with latest Windows Live Mail, Version 2009 (Build
14.0.8064.0206). Date accomplished 7:47 AM 6/7/2009.

a. Installed just fine.

b. Transferred OE settings, accounts and data just fine.

c. Even reset Hotmail accounts from DAV to POP3 just fine.

3. 9:00 AM 6/7/2009 High-priority updates - Security Update for CAPICOM
(KB931906)...

4. Sucessful launches and retrieval of mail; sometimes daily; sometimes
several times a day for several days.

5. 9:06 PM 6/9/2009 High-priority updates - Microsoft Windows XP :

Update Rollup for ActiveX Killbits for Windows XP (KB969898)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB961501)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB968537)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB970238)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8
for Windows XP (KB969897)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - June 2009 (KB890830)

11:42 AM 6/10/2009 High-priority updates - Microsoft Windows XP :

Update Rollup for ActiveX Killbits for Windows XP (KB969898)
*redo* via automatic updates Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Update History shows previous success

Update Adobe Reader to v9.1.2

6. Now, periodially, with no apparent outside stimulus, Windows Live Mail
simply will NOT launch via icons - nor via Program Files\Windows Live\Mail
\*exe... *ALL* other operations normal and stable.

7. A reboot restores normal launching for some indeterminate length of
time until the misbehavior reoccurs...

8. Reading through NG articles and Googlenating for same subject reveals
widespread issues seeming similar although somewhat differently
articulated.

ATTN Microsoft geniuses: What do you think about the geniuses at GMC
getting rid of the Pontiac brand BUUUUUT keeping the Buick line? How do
those guys even get hired much less keep their jobs? They are either
experts at communications ping-pong, or married to the bosses ugly
daughters... That's what I think.

Any ideas that aren't rhetorical loops?

Thanks so much for giving me my money's worth over the years.

Your pal and captive customer,

You are not the customer of anybody who posts to this group, alas. These are
just mutual self-help groups.

That said, I've read of cases where WLMail fails to shut down completely.
Never actually happened to me, but I've read reports of it in these groups.
The next time WLMail fails to start, open the Windows Task Manager and check
the process list for, "wlmail.exe". If you see it, end it. Then try to
launch WLMail.

The OP *IS* a customer of the entity which sponsers both the program
addressed, the Public Newsgroup focused thereto, and administers the home
servers...

That said, this is NOT about *YOU* until *YOU* made it about *YOU*;
furthermore, I don't really care what *YOU* read or didn't read; and
frankly *YOU* seem to have totally missed the point if not the boat
entirely, but that's likely not news suitable for this newsgroup... (Hey
psycho.news, anything missing? See above...) Not being *YOUR* therapist,
or *YOUR* mommie, it's best suggested you try to stay off the industrial
solvents *YOU* are obviously using for cheep drug thrills.

PS, if "wlmail.exe" were in the processes manifest, then Windows Live Mail
would be "running", now wouldn't it - reference item #6 in OP - and "even-
if," that doesn't really approach the problem constructively anyways, now
does it? Unless permanent work arounds for the masses is your favored
panacea...

Unless you're one of the poopahs who wrote the program, or one of their
little elves, you *ARE* representative of the reason this is an ongoing and
chronic problem, so just STFU and let someone who patrols the Microswifty
Publicking Newsgropes and actually reads for issues actually formulate the
responses. *YOU* have just become *one* *more* *useless* result in a
newsgroup search for remedies. Congratulations on that much.

Thanks for your future co-operation... and <PLONK! *YOU*> too

Which does not alter the fact that the sponsor has no official
representatives posting herein.

This is still a public newsgroup, and open to members of the public, and
their opinions, as well as any useful information that they may have to
offer.

PS, if "wlmail.exe" were in the processes manifest, then Windows Live Mail

Not if the application hung at some point. As I said, it has been reported
by others that the GUI closes, but the core application hangs in the task
manager. You may do what you will with that information, or not.

Unless you're one of the poopahs who wrote the program, or one of their
little elves, you *ARE* representative of the reason this is an ongoing and
chronic problem, so just STFU ...

That's it. Good luck finding somebody who wishes to help. I am done with
you.
