TechCrunch and their eponymous blog dedicated to Web 2.0 will very soon be under the control of AOL.

AOL Technology Network, specialist in online services, has announced that they have acquired TechCrunch Network, created in 2005 and holders of the eponymous blog dedicated to Web 2.0.

The deal should be finalised by the end of the year for an undisclosed amount, although some estimates place the acquisition amount at tens of millions of dollars. TechCrunch Network will therefore be integrated as an AOL Technology Network affiliate.

Michael Arrington, head of TechCrunch, will keep his role as editor in chief and will continue to organise conferences which bring together the big players in the high-tech industry. It was actually during the TechCrunch Disrupt event that the acquisition was announced.
