It appears that Apple may be developing an ultrathin 11.6 inch portable computer.
Could Apple be developing an 11.6 inch MacBook? The idea has already been raised by certain people, with the scuttlebutt now getting louder that this could soon be released.
It is rumoured that Quanta Computer, an assembler based in Taiwan who is behind some of Apple, as well as Dell, Fujitsu, NEC and Sony computers, has received an order for 400 000 or 500 000 machines with this specification, paired with a 32 nanometre Intel low voltage processor. Production will start during the fourth quarter of 2010, with deliveries planned for early 2011.
Neither Quanta Computer nor Apple has confirmed the information, so it should be taken with a grain of salt at the moment. We will have to wait and see.
