The Californian court’s decision which has led to Samsung being fined 1 billion dollars didn’t affect the South Korean’s latest products. Apple hasn’t let up though, now attacking the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
Last week, Samsung was found guilty of violating Apple’s copyrights technologies leading to a heavy fine of 1 billion dollars. Immediately following this, Apple decided to block the sale of infringing devices.
About thirty mobiles are now forbidden from being sold in the United States following Apple’s demand, but the list doesn’t include Samsung’s latest models. Apple previously attempted blocking the sale of the Samsung Galaxy S III before its launch, but the request was rejected due to insufficient time before the main court case was to be heard.
Apple is now looking to benefit from this very favourable decision, with the company looking to block Samsung’s latest mobile devices – notably the Galaxy S III smartphone launched in June in the United States and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, launched in August.
The filing was made on Friday, once again with a California court, for the potential violation of eight patents. Apple has claimed that launching this attack is to counter Samsung’s strategy of occupying the market place by launching multiple products which are conform to the law so that they are not affected by more recent filings. New devices therefore have to be added to the list, including more recent releases, with the filing therefore having to be resubmitted and the suit starting over again.

This tactic isn’t unusual in the sense that it demonstrates the lengths large groups are willing to go to get their way. The various invitations between CEO’s to try and sort this out have always failed with no common ground being found.
While Apple continues to attack, Samsung has restated that the company will use all measures possible to continue to defend their interests.
