Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) today announced that its Virtual
Intranet Access (VIA) App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now
available on the App Store. The Wi-Fi-aware VPN application enables
seamless security on both public and private wireless networks. VIA
builds on Aruba’s Remote Networking portfolio, which offers automatic
configuration of wireless device settings, requiring zero-touch for the
end-user.
“Large-scale iPad deployment in businesses and schools requires a new
set of networking solutions developed to ensure both that data on these
devices remains secure, and that each user has access to the appropriate
content,” said Rohit Mehra, director, Enterprise Communications
Infrastructure, IDC. “Aruba VIA for iOS is designed to enable visibility
into the devices on the network and greatly ease their deployment and
management.”
The Aruba VIA App scans and selects the best secure connection back to
the corporate network. Unlike ordinary VPN software, the Aruba VIA App
offers a zero-touch end-user experience by automatically initiating an
IPsec connection for remote users that are accessing corporate resources
through the Internet. As a result, network access is seamless to users,
no matter where they work or learn.
The Aruba VIA App also supports military-grade Suite B cryptography when
used with the ArubaOS™ Advanced Cryptography (ACR) module running on an
Aruba Mobility Controller. With ACR, Aruba VIA clients running iOS can
securely access networks that handle controlled unclassified,
confidential and classified information.
Aruba VIA App features include:
-
Automatic, secure communications between clients and the corporate
network
-
Consistent end-user authentication over Aruba campus Wi-Fi, remote
network from an Aruba Remote Access Point (RAP) or teleworkers’ VIA
client
-
Role-, device-, application- and location-based firewall policies
enforced for local and remote access
-
Built-in logging and diagnostics for remote troubleshooting of
connectivity issues
-
Military-grade Suite B cryptography when used with the ArubaOS
Advanced Cryptography (ACR) module
“The Aruba VIA App further demonstrates Aruba’s commitment to enabling
secure mobility for users wherever they may work, play or roam,” said
Keerti Melkote, Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder of Aruba. “Our
Remote Networking portfolio helps ensure that businesses and schools
have even better security in place for their mobile networks and
initiatives than they do for their legacy wired infrastructure. With VIA
for iOS, the same is now true for the most popular devices in both
businesses and schools – iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.”
The Aruba VIA App is available for free from the App Store on iPad,
iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore
(Search: Aruba VIA). Integrated with ArubaOS, the Aruba VIA App is
activated by purchasing an Aruba Policy Enforcement Firewall for VPN
(PEFV) license for any Aruba Mobility Controller.
