The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP)
and the Coordination of European Picture Agencies Stock (CEPIC) will
bring photographers and distributors from across the globe together at
the CEPIC Congress 2012 in London. The Congress, which runs from
May 16 - 18, has designated May 16th as "Photocentric Day," a day of
inspiration and learning with the theme: Where Does the Content Provider
Fit in the New Stock Photography Business Reality? This
solution-oriented conference will address the changing roles of content
creators and distributors while providing insights into the
technological, cultural and legal factors affecting the creation,
distribution and monetization of visual content today and in the future.
According to ASMP Executive Director Eugene Mopsik, "ASMP has been
honored to work with CEPIC on this unique event. We believe that
"Photocentric Day" will foster important dialogue and encourage future
partnerships among participants."
Christina Vaughan, President of CEPIC said, "It is our hope that through
this day we will all have a better understanding of the issues
and challenges at the source of visual communication – our photographers."
The program will begin with a Keynote Presentation by award-winning
photojournalist Jonathan Torgovnik. The day's schedule also includes:
-
Does the Content Provider Still Need the Traditional Stock
Distributor to Make a Profit?
-
A two-part program: Moving into the Future, Part 1: A Discussion on
Content Creators and Distributors Partnering for Mutual Benefit
and Part 2: What We Can Learn from Other Industries
