Plaxo,
Inc., creators of an easy-to-use online address book, today
announced it has teamed with the Office and Consumer Products Group of Avery
Dennison (NYSE:AVY), a global leader in office products, to offer
the convenience of creating contact mailing labels quickly and easily.
Plaxo has leveraged the Avery®
Design & Print Online program to offer Plaxo address book users
the added value of printing out labels from their Plaxo personal and
business contacts. Whether it is for personal use such as holiday cards,
or business use such as shipping labels, the two companies have
streamlined the mailing label process.
Sending out personal or business mailings can sometimes be a difficult
process, requiring knowledge of complicated mail merge techniques, or
hours spent typing or handwriting the labels. In addition, contacts
stored in Web-based email programs may not allow for easy label
generation. Now, business or home users can simply choose their contacts
within the Plaxo address book and select one of the popular Avery label
formats, and their addresses are automatically transferred into the
proper format for mailing. The process makes sending out
professional-looking labels a breeze and is great for holiday and
birthday cards; wedding or party invitations; baby or wedding showers;
college graduation invites; church events; thank you cards; custom
labels; shipping labels; monthly newsletters; brochures; realtor open
houses; name tags with a company logo. Mailings can be done in just a
few simple steps.
“Teaming with Plaxo is a natural for Avery and our consumers. Connecting
the Plaxo easy-to-use address book with automated mail merge in Avery
Design & Print Online makes mailings easier than ever,” said Brenda
Dillon, group manager for Avery. “Many people use spreadsheets or other
ways to manage addresses and generate labels, but with Plaxo and Avery,
mailings are simple and easy. Avery labels are available at thousands of
local office supply stores and online.”
“Plaxo is collaborating with Avery to offer a solution to a challenge
for many people – finding the time to write out invitations and cards,”
said Preston
Smalley, general manager for Plaxo. “With this new integration,
customers can more readily stay connected with their contacts by
selecting names from their up-to-date Plaxo address book and printing
Avery labels, all within seconds. This new functionality allows people
to make their address book work for them and be more efficient. Select,
Print and Go! It’s that simple. And it’s easy to use.”
How it works
Plaxo’s address book data (business and/or home addresses) is seamlessly
integrated into the Avery Design & Print Online system and generates
labels to a ready-to-print PDF. In addition, customers using the Plaxo Personal
Assistant service benefit from automatic personal and business
contact card suggestions, making accurately-addressed labels a painless
process.
Because the option to Print to Avery Labels is on Plaxo’s Web site menu,
a user can print to his/her desktop printer by choosing “Print to
Avery”, then “Select Label Options” and choose from the most common
Avery label types. From there, Avery’s mail merge function automatically
places the address book information on the label layout for quick
editing and printing. Labels are currently formatted for American letter
sizes. European letter sizes are planned to be rolled out in future
service updates. This label printing feature is a free, online Plaxo
service and no software download is required (note: users can buy Avery
labels at any office supply store).
Plaxo complements social networks and media companies by helping users
pull in disparate sets of contacts (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail,
Yahoo!, Hotmail, CSV, etc.) into one common, secure online address book.
Plaxo address book also syncs with leading mobile platforms, including
Apple iOS, Google Android, RIM BlackBerry and Windows Mobile to pull in
their address books. Because Plaxo offers two-way, real-time sync,
updates made from one sync point are reflected in every sync
point – providing a consistent, updated address book from wherever you
access it.
