The way it works
Using Price Transparency is extremely simple. You want to buy something? Then you simply need to enter the keywords into a search engine or look through the manufacturer’s web site. You will then be provided with the best price, the price history and even advice provided by other users all integrated into a browser pop-up. You should note that the comparison is provided in real time while you browse around an online shopping site.
The company brings together prices from 120 online shopping sites twice daily. More then 100 000 references, which translates into 1 million products online. For the moment it is mostly electrical goods which are referenced, with about 30 people looking around for the different prices.
Your private life and personal data?
It specifies in the general conditions of use that: "For it to be able to work correctly, the WORKIT Widget collects a certain amount of personal information, notably your public IP address. The WORKIT widget also analyses your browsing in real time and keeps your history so as establish general statistics about products and not users" This means that when the internet user accepts to use the Widget, they are transparently participating in the improvement of the engine and the expanding of the database.
An extension that is compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox
If you want to use the WORKIT Widget, then there is nothing special that you need to know. You should have a recent computer and a high speed internet connection. The Widget is compatible with the two main internet browsers, Internet Explorer versions 6.x, 7.x and even 8.x or Firefox versions 2.x or 3.x, on the Windows, Mac OS X or Linux operating system. It is also available on the Price Transparency site.
