BestIT Race Team Expected to Secure Top Placement at Pirelli World Challenge

The BestIT Race Team experienced success and disappointment as BestIT driver Andy Lee of Colorado Springs, Colorado won first place in the GTS class, while team captain Harry Curtin suffered engine failure at the 2012 World Challenge Series race in Toole, Utah on Saturday, April 28.

Entering the last lap in the fourth place position, Lee watched as Kinetic Racing teammates Michael Galati and Colin Braun battled for the lead. At the last corner of the Outer Course, the two cars crashed into each other, opening up the win for Lee.

Driving the #20 BestIT Chevrolet Camaro, Lee had what he described as an awesome race. “I still can’t believe it actually happened. You don’t want to win a race like that [with people crashing] so I’m glad everyone is ok, but if you get it handed to you, then you might as well take it.”

Curtin, in the #29 Chevrolet Camaro, suffered engine failure and was unable to finish the race. “It was bittersweet,” said Curtin. “I’m obviously very disappointed with the engine failure, but I am incredibly proud of Andy Lee. He was in the right place because he put himself there.”

Curtin noted that the #29 car will be ready for Laguna Seca on May 10. “We’ll be ready. We definitely want to retain that edge and keep up the momentum we’ve built with our recent podium spots.” While he’s entertaining a host of potential sponsors, he’s most interested in a long-term partnership. “We continue to be approached about sponsorships, especially with our recent exposure. I’ve been so fortunate to partner with Bondurant and to build this great relationship.”

In preparation for the World Challenge Series Laguna Seca race, the BestIT team continues its enhancements of both vehicles, together with the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. As the GTS class continues to get more competitive throughout the 2012 season, the team looks forward to the challenge.
