Better Run Command-- how?

In KDE3, there was a "Run Command"-window, in which as soon as you had typed
a few characters, a list of previously given commands would appear, from
which you could select. Quite convenient for me, as I often have to call
vncviewer with different IP-addresses, and I like to recall yesterday's
command with minimum effort.

Unfortunately, this appears to be replaced in KDE4, by an, in my opinion,
rather useless alternative. I should like to get it back. How?

Is there, for instance, a way to replace the link (I don't know what KDE
calls it) by a reference to the previous utility (and what was its name?).

have you tried the launchers amongst the widgets? otherwise, you can always
configure a hotkey for Terminal and then CTRL-R, maybe increase
HISTFILESIZE.
