Research in Motion has finally unveiled their BlackBerry Balance system which separates personal and professional information on BlackBerry handsets, with this helping prevent data mix up’s.
Since Smartphone’s are now used for both professional and private life uses, Research in Motion has released a system baptised BlackBerry Balance which will wall off the two worlds.
This is particularly important for the Canadian manufacturer who has evolved their phone offerings outside of the professional world to offer users more multimedia and entertainment options.
BlackBerry Balance answers user’s requirements to be able to use their professional Smartphone for private needs while ensuring that professional data is protected.
Two worlds in the same Smartphone
Two profiles are created and it is impossible for data to move between each. For the user, the separation is transparent and requires no complex manipulations. On their side, enterprises will be able to place security policies on the device via the BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) or BES Express.
This will secure professional information so that it will be impossible to copy or transfer data or virtual business cards, with a warning to be displayed on the screen alerting the user of an illegal security action has been conducted if something isn’t right. It will also be possible for the company to delete professional data remotely if the employee leaves the company, while their personal information will be left intact.
BlackBerry Balance also allows for all data to be destroyed (pro and personal) from the handset if it is lost or stolen. The service is integrated into BES 5.0.3 and BES Express 5.0.3 and is compatible with handsets running BlackBerry OS 6.
