Bug#598144: Probably reproduced

June 19th, 2012 - 08:10 pm ET by Filipus Klutiero | Report spam
I probably reproduced this after testing a wheezy daily on an ASUS Z71A
using an RT2500. I got this error message and several others. It
happened as soon as I logged in to the minimal console install, with
tty1 full of such messages. The laptop was 1 meter away from the router.
The image was
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/d...etinst.iso
which uses Linux 3.2. I used the 486 image.

When I search, I see lots of hits related to this error message, but few
recently (after 2010). For example,
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?idb6818

Unfortunately, I was just installing to test another bug and I won't be
using that install - in fact, I already lost it. I may retest at one
point, and investigate more if this persists when testing's Linux
becomes current again.

Ok, now I finally got a chance to look up the bug. So do you mean
that transfers were very slow and you got the message

phy0 -> rt2500pci_set_device_state: Error - Device failed to enter state 1 (-16).

? Thanks much for that, if so.

Filling in between the lines: does this mean you have another network
adapter you are using instead or that you are avoiding the bug some
other way (for example by avoiding that machine altogether)?

Curious,
Jonathan
