Bug#638191: claws-mail: loses plugins

August 17th, 2011 - 11:00 am ET by Michael Below | Report spam
Package: claws-mail
Version: 3.7.9-1
Severity: normal

I am using claws-mail with the plugins Attachwarner, GtkHTML
viewer, Notification, PGP MIME & inline, Spamassassin.

Every few days all plugins are gone after restarting claws-mail. Most
plugins keep their settings, they just need to be loaded again,
but Spamassassin loses the settings too.

I have tried to find a pattern, but no success so far -- I am
using testing, and updating the system regularly, but it's not
after each update, and it's not only after claws-mail updates.

Well, never heard of such problems caused by claws-mail. The usual
suspects here are corrupted filesystems, sometimes by failing disks and
also caused by sudden power losses. Are you confident on your current
drive and/or filesystem?

You may also start to run claws-mail with the --debug flag, saving the
output to a log file each run, so we can inspect the logs. Instead of
launching from the menu go to a terminal and run:

claws-mail --debug 2>&1 > $HOME/log-claws-mail-`date +%Y%j%H%M%S`.txt

That will create a debug log for each run in your home directory with a
timestamp.

When you got another failure just compress and send me the last two logs
(the one of the run where you discovered the failure and the previous to
that one).
