November 23rd, 2011 - 08:50 am ET by matej pastor | Report spam
Package: nvidia-kernel-2.6.32-5-686-bigmem
Version: 195.36.31+2+4+2.6.32-24
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hello.

I have Debian Squeeze, fresh install with updates. When I run 3D application X crash.
I have run glxgears, glxinfo and google-earth. When I run any of this applications, screen immediately
does blank or show a lot of blinking colored squares. After a while X return but system
does not response (mouse, keyboard). In console when I run glxgears there is not any output
from application (e.g. FPS). After while screen crash again and square appear again. Then I can switch
to virtual console (Alt+Ctrl+Fx), I can login and enter commands (system is working)
but screen is totaly broken (odd characters instead font).
But sometime system freeze totaly and fan on the graphic card goes to maximum.
I try nvidia kernel driver without support of bigmem but same problem.

I try install driver from nvidia page and everything is OK.

Which version?

Updated drivers were just uploaded to squeeze-backports. They should
become available in a few days and you should retry with them.
