Bug#674949: datapacker stack is executable. Seems to work w/o

May 28th, 2012 - 05:30 pm ET by charles | Report spam
Package: datapacker
Version: 1.0.1+nmu1
Severity: normal

A very simple test of the -a print action worked after
execstack -c /usr/bin/datapacker.
the example datapacker '--action=exec:echo "Bin: $1"; shift; ls "$@"'
from the manpage ran w/o error.

Debian Release: 6.0.2
APT prefers stable
APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental')
Architecture: i386 (i686)

Kernel: Linux 3.0.4 (SMP w/4 CPU cores; PREEMPT)
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /UNIONFS/bin/bash

Versions of packages datapacker depends on:
ii libc6 2.13-20 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib
ii libffi5 3.0.10-3 Foreign Function Interface library
ii libgmp3c2 2:4.3.2+dfsg-1 Multiprecision arithmetic library

I'm not sure this is truly a bug in datapacker. Perhaps it is a
wishlist item in ghc, the Haskell compiler? Can you give me some
background on why you consider it a datapacker bug?
