Bug#686533: RM: fparser/4.5-0.1 -- RoM; RC Buggy, no more rdepends

September 02nd, 2012 - 05:50 pm ET by Scott Howard | Report spam
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian.org@packages.debian.org
Usertags: rm

Please remove fparser (source) from unstable. Binary packages are libfparser-
dev, libfparser-4.3, libfparser-4.3-dbg.

The Debian packages that depended on it now use the muparser library, and
fparser has become difficult to maintain with gcc-4.7. Upstream doesn't believe
in shared libraries, so we've been maintiaing that build system. It's gotten
too much to worry about for Wheezy, it's best to remove it for now.

No rdepends anymore.

Debian Release: wheezy/sid
APT prefers unstable
APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental')
Architecture: i386 (i686)

Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-486

Could you confirm where you're trying to get the package removed from?
You've filed the bug against release.debian.org, which implies testing,
but the above says unstable. Then again, this:

The Debian packages that depended on it now use the muparser library, and
fparser has become difficult to maintain with gcc-4.7. Upstream doesn't believe

sounds more like testing.

Adam
