Can't See External Hard Drive

Western Digital 250 gb EIDE hard drive

I'm trying to rescue data off this internal hard drive. Normally, I use
EIDE/USB adapter cables and have no problem. This time, the WD hard drive
is recognized and goes thru the "new hardware found" process in the System
Tray. However, there is nothing in My Computer - only the C drive. I tried
showing all files and folders and still nothing.

I have connected this drive to both a Windows XP and Windows 7 desktop
computer with the EIDE/USB cables. Each time, the drive is recognized in
the System Tray, but does not show in My Computer. Any suggestions as to
why this might be? All input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Right click on My Computer and pick Manage and then Disk Management on
the left pane. The drive should be there on the right pane. And it
should tell you if it is healthy, needs to be partitioned, or needs to
be formatted. If all of this has been done already and it doesn't have a
drive letter. You can right click on it and assign one.
