Dvico TVix-HD M-4000P multimedia hard drive test

With an unconventiaonal shape and design, the Korean manufacturer Dvico has nevertheless delivered an excellent multimedia HD with their TVix M-5000U, and this despite the first firmware not being the right specifications for Europe. Very seductive and compact, Dvico brings a breath of fresh air to their range of multimedia hard drives with the TVix HD M-4000P. This is a good time to discover if the model lives up to its promises.

Multimedia oriented the M-4000P offers a lot of the basic functions required of a multimedia player. Video playing with subtitle support, interactive menus, zoom, bookmark (when stopping a film, the spot is marked for next time you play it), etc.

Controlled play or shuffle for audio files that support ID tags and the viewing of pictures (transition between photos, slideshows, etc) but this is unfortunately limited to JPG files. You should not that the navigation interface is very good looking and very intuitive, to such a point there is nothing to explain.

Interface 2       Interface

Besides the possibility of playing videos, music and viewing photos on the television, which is pretty standard for most living room multimedia players, the M-4000P offers additional functions.

We will start with the audio “autorun” function that allows you to play music without having to turn your television on. To do this, you need to create an “autorun” folder in the root of the TVix-HD M-4000P device and then copy the music files you want to play into the folder.

You can also modify the appearance of the navigation interface by changing the wallpaper. To do this, you need to rename the Jpeg file of your choice to TVIX.jpg for the folder that you want to change the wallpaper for. Dvico recommends not going any higher in resolution then 720 x 480 pixels so as to keep the interface load times to a respectable speed.

But the most interesting thing rests in the integrated network port which allows you to connect the TVix-HD M-4000P to your local network so that you can access your shared files. We also can’t forget the 2 USB 2.0 ports which allow you connect a USB stick or external hard drive to the device so as to transfer your photos and other files.
