The Google Chrome browser will be released as a beta version on the Android operation system for smartphones and tablets

In the Google universe, there is Chrome OS and Chrome, with the second being the web browser competing against Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari... The browser, currently available on desktop computers, has been now presented as a mobile version (in beta) for the Android system.

Chrome for Android follows the same credo of reactivity and simplicity as the PC version and applies it to smartphones and tablets running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (at this time only a fraction of Android devices available), with browsing elements, PC synchronisation and processes identification allowing you to find all browsing customisations set by the user.

Chrome Android navigateurThe system has been adapted for use with tactile screens and uses the full range of movements for browsing and accessing Web content, with the omnibox allowing you to search and navigate. Google has indicated that they are looking at changing the Chrome for Android interface to assure good ergonomics for the small screen, while the system manages a good number of tabs that are accessibly by simply sliding a finger across the screen.

Google has made some improvements in some areas, like the selection of a link from a list – something that is rarely easy on small tactile screen, with an automatic zoom system being present to more easily select the right link.

We also find private browsing options, like on the PC version of Chrome. Finally, by logging in, you also find interconnections with Google’s other services and suggestions for more precise searching.

Chrome for Android is freely available for download from the Android Market.
