Look through compressed files with Windows Vista

When using the Windows Vista search function, the request will also look through the removable devices (hard drive, DVD, Blu-Ray, memory stick, memory card, etc…), whether they are in the root, in folders or sub folders. But despite this search with a fine tooth comb, it is possible that some files go unnoticed, like those included in zip files. There is a solution to get around this problem.

Start the Computer from the desktop or start menu, click on the “Organize” at the top left and from the menu that appears, choose “Folder options and search”.

In the new window which appears, click on the “Search” tab. Go to the sub-section “Searching in unindexed locations” and check the box that is titles “Include compressed files (Zip, Cab).

Now when searching in Windows Vista, the compressed files will also be searched.
