Review Internet Connection
Connecting a Wireless Laptop to an existing local area network.

This tutorial will explain in detail how to connect your WiFi portable to your cabled local area network so that you can share files and surf on the internet with a shared Windows connection. Once installed and configured, your portable will be connected to all the other computers that are on network cable.

Start the connection: an icon will appear in the taskbar (if this option was checked) and the connection is made, “Virtual Private Network Connection”

You should now try and surf on the internet to see that everything is working.

If the internet doesn’t work very well, you may need to specify the DNS servers of your internet provider in the “Network Management” tab in the properties of your virtual private network connection.

Normally, such as in this case, it shouldn’t be necessary. You should be able to leave the setting at “Automatically obtain DNS servers”.

Verify that all the necessary authentications on your firewall have also been correctly installed.

Note: Obviously it is easier to install a WiFi router then to perform these steps, although not everyone has €100 spare to spend on such a device, especially if you have already invested in an RJ45 router and Wireless cards.

Have fun sharing the connection thanks to wireless ;).
