copy&pasting screenshots

I use Print Screen button on my keyboard to copy a frame from a movie and
paste it into Paint, but when the picture appears in Paint, it shows up only
as blank space. I've turned off the overlays and video acceleration and it
hasn't fixed the problem.

I own Windows Media Player version 11.0.5721.5268. My operating system is
Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, with Service Pack 3.

Turn off video overlay enhancement in WMP : The feature Swifty
described is called "Overlay" and is WMP sending the video content
directly to the graphics card.

Below Now Playing, click the small dropdown menu, then choose More
Options.

Click the Performance tab, then Advanced... button and untick 'use
overlays' and/or 'use video mixing renderer'

This will have a knock-on bad effect on playback performance, so OK
that, play and ALT + PrtScrn your video, then once you've finished,
set the VMR and Overlay back to <on>

HTH
