Disable unused Windows functions

The Windows 7 operating system offers a lot of different functions, with it being possible there are some you don’t use at all - Gadgets, the multimedia player, Internet browser, Telnet client or even handwriting recognition for example. Here is how you can disable those that are of no interest to you at all.
 
Go to the start menu and open the Control Panel.

Click on Programs.

From here, under Programs and Features, click on the Turn Windows features on or off option available.

You then simply need t select/uncheck the function you want to have running and press OK.
