Display your DOS commands history

When you use the command line interpreter, if you want to look at the commands you have previously used, then you simply have to use the up and down arrows to navigate between them. But there is another easier way to display these, and it can be done in the following way.

First start the Windows command line interpreter by clicking “Start” and selecting “Run”. From the dialogue box that appears type “cmd” in the field and click on the OK button. Next, use your normal DOS commands.

Now instead of using the up and down arrows to navigate between the options, simply press the F7 key. A window will appear displaying the last commands that have been entered, displaying up to the last 50.

To change the default maximum, click on the icon at the top of the window title bar. From the drop down menu that appears, click “Properties”. In the new window that opens, in the “Command History” section, change the “Buffer size” to “100” for example if you want to display the last 100 commands.
