DTS,
Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today
announced an alliance with Bouygues Telecom, where DTS will provide
advanced audio solutions for company’s video on demand service, Bbox
VOD, delivering to consumers the ultimate on-demand entertainment
experience. The Bbox VOD experience will be on display at DTS’ booth at IBC2012
(Booth 2.B50), taking place September 7 – 11, 2012, at the RAI
convention centre in Amsterdam.
“We believe that the only way to deliver a compelling home entertainment
experience to customers is to provide them with content that has audio
that is equally as impressive as the picture,” noted Franck Abihssira,
VP Broadband Access, Contents and Services, at Bouygues Telecom. “With
DTS’ advanced surround sound solutions, we are able to pack our Bbox
Sensation system with the capabilities of delivering a robust audio
experience to our customers without any detrimental effect on bandwidth
performance.”
According to Nielsen,
while television ratings declined, the number of people who viewed an
online video increased 84 percent over last year. In response to
evolving viewer habits, in June 2012, Bouygues Telecom launched the Bbox
Sensation, a system that combines ultra-fast broadband connectivity with
a 3D and HD-capable DVR set-top box. The inclusion of DTS sound to the
Bbox Sensation enables delivery of 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound audio as
part of its VOD service through a conventional stereo connection,
ensuring customers get the best possible experience from their
television configurations regardless of the broadband connection
bandwidth (FTTH, FTTLa and DSL).
“On-demand viewing has become a huge part of the consumer's
entertainment experience,” noted Brian Towne, executive vice president
and chief operating officer of DTS, Inc. “We remain committed to
partnering with companies that recognize and adapt to trends, and
providing consumers with an immersive entertainment experience.”
