Endace
(LSE: EDA), world leaders in high-speed, packet capture and analysis
platforms, today announced the general availability of the Endace
Application Dock™ as part of its latest software release (OSm 4.1).
Endace Application Dock™ enables third-party, custom and open-source
monitoring and network security applications to leverage the power of
the EndaceProbe’s proven 10 gigabit 100 percent continuous packet
capture and analysis capability. Leveraging the power of DAG™ (Data
Acquisition and Generation) hardware technology and highly optimized
platform operating software, Endace Application Dock enables multiple
applications to coexist alongside the native Analytics and Security
tools delivered via the Endace
Application Suite.
“Endace Application Dock changes the monitoring and security landscape,”
said Neil Livingston, chief product officer at Endace. “The benefits of
deploying an open and highly scalable monitoring fabric that guarantees
to capture 100 percent of network traffic are far reaching. Not only can
organizations make significant resource savings through consolidation of
monitoring hardware, but they are also able to be more flexible in the
way that they select and deploy tools – safe in the knowledge that every
tool that they select is seeing every packet all of the time.”
A number of analytics, monitoring, security, forensic and measurement
tools have already been approved to run in the Application Dock, with a
long list of additional applications to be added during 2011 through the
Dock Application Partner Program.
Anthony Finbow, chief executive officer of Psytechnics, the leading IP
voice and video service management solution vendor and one of the first
Application Dock Partners, said: “Our application performs very well in
the Endace Application Dock, and we are excited to be able to offer our
solution in partnership with Endace to deliver on our joint customers’
real time voice and video service management requirements.”
In recent independent testing conducted by NSS Labs, Endace’s platform
was proven to capture
100 percent of traffic at 10 Gb/s, making it a natural choice for
all organizations concerned about the risks associated with data
protection and network security.
A major Endace customer quoted in Edison research at the end of 2010
said: “Data capture is sacrosanct; if you are not capturing everything,
then the analysis is pointless.” The recent very public examples of data
leakage and denial of service attacks have highlighted the need for
highly accurate monitoring capabilities.
The latest release of OSm also adds a number of native monitoring and
security functions, known as the Endace
Application Suite, which is included as standard with every
EndaceProbe™. The Endace Application Suite delivers immediate out-of-the
box solutions addressing the fundamental monitoring and security
requirements of every modern high-speed network.
The Endace Application Suite includes:
-
Endace Packet Access: Fundamental to 100-percent packet capture
is the ability to access any packet at any time for further analysis.
Endace Packet Access provides a GUI and a series of open interfaces
for quickly finding and exporting packets to remote systems.
-
Endace Analytics: Endace Analytics provides rich graphical
insights into the behavior and performance of the network. It is used
to assist engineers with everything from resource planning to forensic
investigations. As a result of the latest release, Endace Analytics
now includes long-term trending. Endace Analytics is based on Pilot
from Cace Technologies.
-
Endace Security Manager (ESM): Leveraging the power of open
source SNORT™, the world’s most popular security engine, ESM provides
enterprise-wide threat detection by monitoring characteristics and
signatures of network traffic.
-
Endace NetFlow Generator: NetFlow is becoming a more and more
important part of the monitoring tool kit, being core to many NBAD
applications such as Riverbed’s Cascade product line. Dedicated
NetFlow sensors are now widely accepted as essential for generating
accurate NetFlow records at 10 Gb/s.
OSm 4.1 is generally available immediately.
About Endace
Endace
provides open packet capture and analysis systems that form the basis
for mission critical network security, traffic analysis and latency
measurement solutions.
EndaceProbes™ are purpose built to be deployed as a fabric, from the
edge to the core of the network. Working in unison they provide a
comprehensive monitoring fabric on which a range of open source,
commercial or custom applications can be run simultaneously.
One hundred percent packet capture is now widely accepted as a
non-negotiable input to systems that are being used to monitor, measure
and analyze critical networks. Based on proprietary DAG technology,
Endace’s systems have a global reputation for consistently capturing and
analyzing 100-percent of network traffic.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Endace also has offices in the U.K. and
the United States. Quoted on London's AIM, the stock code is LSE: EDA.
