Ultimate
Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading cloud provider of people
management solutions, announced today that Semblex Corporation, a
leading manufacturer of fastening solutions, is keeping pace with HR
innovation, driving business results, and increasing employee adoption
of HR automation with Ultimate Software’s UltiPro
Workplace.
Founded in 1968, Semblex Corporation has grown into an organization that
includes several manufacturing plants as well as hundreds of employees.
Semblex leadership knew it was time for HR to move beyond the limited
capabilities of the payroll service bureau it had been using to a more
flexible, advanced solution that offered broader
people management features and more control over workforce
information. Understanding the impact that an HCM solution can have on
the overall business, leadership from all levels was involved in the
selection process.
“Our president understands the importance of people, and for this
reason, he wanted to participate in the selection of our new HCM
solution. He’s totally on board with UltiPro,” said Todd Switzer,
director of human resources at Semblex Corporation. “With our prior
vendor, I felt like it owned our information because we always
had to depend on it to handle our reporting needs. With UltiPro, I feel
like we own our information because the power of Ultimate’s
technology is so much greater. We’ve really elevated the way we
manage our workforce.”
Having deployed UltiPro Workplace in November 2011, Semblex is already
seeing benefits because of the solution’s direct
access for employees and managers, ease of use, and capabilities
for strategic business intelligence. For example, UltiPro saves time and
reduces administration because authorized users—HR/payroll staff,
managers, even virtual employees—can process work events from anywhere.
UltiPro automatically routes changes for approvals through workflow
processes for a range of business activities, such as hiring an
employee; changing any employee work-related information; conducting
performance reviews; monitoring deductions or benefits; approving PTO
requests; and more.
“I really like that our employees have the kind of access that they have
with UltiPro. It’s amazing how much time it saves us—not having to
constantly field questions,” said Switzer. “The same applies to
supervisors. It helps them get more engaged and stay on top of their
employees.”
Because Semblex is automating so many processes with UltiPro, its HR
operations have become significantly less reliant on paper.
“UltiPro has been so well-received across the organization and user
adoption is so high that we are already achieving cost benefits because
we are not printing pay checks or direct deposit advices,” said Switzer.
“And as more of UltiPro’s features are adopted by employees, our
business will see additional hard- and soft-cost savings.”
Switzer has found UltiPro’s easy-to-follow navigation has not only
helped employees, but has resulted in faster access to the workforce
analytics that support critical HR decisions. “With our previous system,
there were times when I had to call or go to somebody to try to get a
report done for me,” said Switzer. “Now I can get what I need pretty
quickly. This is a credit to UltiPro because it’s so easy to use. We
have a tremendous
amount of information available to executives, managers, and HR teams
that can be easily captured and then made immediately available for
review and decision making.”
Although the functionality, ease of use, and reporting were critical in
the selection process, Switzer finds that his relationships with the
people at Ultimate Software provide unexpected and important value.
“With UltiPro, it feels like we’re part of a family. From the sales
process all the way to our customer service person, we’re working
together as a team. Our relationships with Ultimate’s people make our
jobs easier and help us feel confident that we’re maximizing our use of
UltiPro,” said Switzer.
“We’re so pleased that customers like Semblex understand the fundamental
value of people. Our
technology is designed to help people work better and achieve more,”
said Chris Phenicie, chief sales officer for UltiPro Workplace at
Ultimate Software. “Growing businesses absolutely need the best
technologies to help them engage a productive workforce, but they also
need the right people behind these technologies to support them. We’re
proud to sustain a ‘people first’ culture that understands the value of
relationships, and Semblex is one
more example of our many successful partnerships.”
