Use the screen scroll under Firefox

January 23rd, 2009 - 05:20 am ET by D. T.

Under Firefox, when you are on page that is too big you can scroll up and down with the mouse wheel, you can scroll via the scroll bars, or even line by line. But did you know that it is also possible to opt for a scroll screen by screen? Here is how it can be done.

Launch the Firefox browser and in the address bar enter the command “about:config”, and then click yes on the warning displayed by Mozilla.

In the filter section, type “mousewheel”, find “mousewheel.withaltkey.action” and double click on it. In the dialogue box, enter the value “1”, click on OK and restart the browser.

Now when using the mouse wheel, you simply need to hold down the Alt key to scroll page by page. This is a practical tip when reading through long articles.
